As you may have heard, the National Weather Center has issued a Tropical Storm and Flood Watch that could significantly impact our 32nd District this weekend. Reports (as of Friday afternoon, 8/18) suggest the storm will take landfall Saturday evening, and its weather effects will linger until Monday evening.
When it comes to extreme weather events, preparedness is key. Please consider signing up for your county's emergency response system warnings, which you can find here:
Heavy rain and powerful winds are likely to prompt flash flooding conditions and possible power outages. Streets and highways may experience road closures, and local rivers and creeks in recent burn areas may be overwhelmed with excessive runoff debris flow.
Please adjust your travel plans accordingly to avoid dangerous driving conditions.
Several cities and counties are also offering resources such as sand bag distribution. Most post their assistance and resources on social media, and I encourage you to make use of what is offered.
Check your local news for updates in your region.
