This year, I was proud to introduce Senate Resolution 127, recognizing September 17–23, 2026, as Constitution Week in California.
September 17 marks 239 years since the signing of the United States Constitution in 1787. Nearly two and a half centuries later, it remains the foundation of our system of government and a safeguard of the rights and freedoms we enjoy as Americans.
Constitution Week is an opportunity to reflect on the principles that have guided our nation for generations and the responsibility we share to preserve them.
As a State Senator, I took an oath to support and defend the Constitution. It is an obligation I take seriously and one that serves as an important reminder that those entrusted with public office are accountable to the Constitution and the people we serve.
I invite you to join communities across the country in recognizing Constitution Week. I hope you’ll take a few minutes to learn more about its history, discuss its importance with your family, and reflect on the enduring role it plays in our country.
I will also be visiting local schools in our district to meet with students and discuss the Constitution, our system of government, and the importance of civic engagement. I look forward to hearing their questions and perspectives.
