After 35 years of service as a firefighter, I know firsthand how important it is to be prepared before an emergency occurs. That is why I was proud to introduce SCR 191, recognizing September 2026 as California Emergency Preparedness Month.
California is no stranger to wildfires, earthquakes, floods, and other natural and man-made disasters. These emergencies can happen with little warning, making it important to know what to do before one occurs.
Here in our 32nd District, we are fortunate to have dedicated first responders and emergency service personnel who work every day to keep our communities safe. But preparedness is also a responsibility we all share.
Taking simple steps now like knowing your evacuation routes, having an emergency plan, and keeping necessary supplies on hand can help you and your family respond quickly and safely when every minute counts.
