I am proud to announce Michelle’s Place as our 2026 32nd Senate District Nonprofit of the Year.
Michelle’s Place is a full-service cancer resource center located in Temecula that serves more than 6,000 cancer patients and their families annually. Founded in 2001 as the final wish of Michelle Watson, a 26-year-old breast cancer patient, the organization was created to ensure that individuals facing cancer would have access to the support, resources, and information she found difficult to obtain during her own journey.
Since expanding its mission in 2018 to serve individuals facing all types of cancer, Michelle’s Place has grown into a vital community resource. The organization provides free services including patient navigation, support groups, counseling, wigs and prostheses, wellness programs, educational seminars, transportation assistance, and temporary financial support for those undergoing treatment.
A cancer diagnosis impacts every aspect of a person’s life, not just their health. Michelle’s Place helps individuals and families navigate the emotional, practical, and financial challenges that often accompany treatment. Their work serves as an important bridge between medical care and community support.
Michelle’s Place has become a lifeline for thousands of individuals and families facing one of life’s most difficult challenges. Their commitment to ensuring that no one faces cancer alone has made a profound difference throughout Southwest Riverside County and beyond. Through compassion, education, and support, Michelle’s Place embodies the spirit of service and community that makes the 32nd Senate District so special.
I had the honor of recognizing Michelle’s Place during the California Association of Nonprofits’ annual awards luncheon in Sacramento on May 20, 2026. Please join me in congratulating the organization’s staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners on this well-deserved recognition.
