Sacramento, CA – Senator Kelly Seyarto (R-Murrieta) is proud to announce that SB 308 has been signed into law. The bill streamlines fiscal oversight requirements for California Community Colleges by consolidating duplicative reporting into a single comprehensive annual report, reducing administrative burdens while maintaining transparency and accountability.
California Community Colleges are subject to numerous reporting requirements intended to ensure responsible fiscal oversight. Over time, some of these requirements have become duplicative, requiring similar information to be prepared and submitted separately.
SB 308 consolidates overlapping fiscal reports while preserving the information necessary for state oversight. Reducing unnecessary administrative burdens can lower costs and free up resources, while ensuring important fiscal information continues to be available to the Legislature, state agencies, and the public.
“Good government means eliminating unnecessary work without sacrificing accountability,” said Senator Seyarto. “SB 308 simplifies reporting requirements while preserving the transparency and fiscal accountability taxpayers expect. Reducing unnecessary administrative costs means fewer dollars spent on paperwork and more resources available to support students and their education.”
SB 308 received bipartisan support and no opposition.
